Daily Metrics Tracking

· · Note

As an exercise, I’ve been tracking some daily metrics in my daily note in Obsidian for the purposes of analyzing them later and identifying trends. Here’s what I’m tracking:

  • Sleep:
    • Bedtime (time)
    • Waketime (time)
    • Hours Slept (time)
  • Subjective Self-Assessment:
    • Mood (Terrible, Poor, Neutral, Good, Excellent)
    • Energy (Depleted, Low, Moderate, High, Energized)
    • Stress (Minimal, Slight, Moderate, High, Overwhelming)
    • Anxiety (Calm, Mild, Moderate, Elevated, Severe)
    • Productivity (Unproductive, Limited, Adequate, Productive, Highly Productive)
    • Diet (Poor, Below Average, Adequate, Good, Excellent)
    • Health (Poor, Unwell, Fair, Good, Excellent)
    • Activity (Sedentary, Minimal, Moderate, Active, Very Active)
  • Positive Habits:
    • Got Outside (boolean)
    • Left House (boolean)
    • Socialized (boolean)
    • Used Lightbox (boolean)
    • Took Medication (boolean)
    • Practiced Zazen (boolean)

The purpose behind this is to see what factors have the greatest influence on my productivity, well-being, mood, etc. I will continue to update as I discover trends.

To analyze this data, I plan on dumping it all in a Postgres database and using Metabase to analyze it.
