These terms cover your use of ejl.st ("entropy just lost"), run by Ethan Lewis. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't, don't use the site.

Posts and notes on this site are © Ethan Lewis. You are welcome to link to them, quote short passages with attribution, or syndicate excerpts via RSS. Republishing full posts, or using them to train a machine-learning model, requires written permission.

Comments and submissions

When you post a comment or submit content to the site, you represent that it's yours to share, that it doesn't violate anyone else's rights, and that it doesn't break the law. You grant a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display your comment on this site and in related places (e.g. an RSS feed of comments).

Comments that are off-topic, abusive, spammy, or illegal may be edited or deleted without warning. Users may be banned at the site owner's discretion. There is no right of appeal; this is a personal blog, not a public forum.

Subscribing to the newsletter means you'll receive email when new posts go up. Frequency varies. Every email has an unsubscribe link. If the unsubscribe link ever fails, email ethan@ejl.st and you'll be removed.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Disrupt the site (e.g. denial-of-service, scraping at abusive rates).
Attempt to bypass authentication or access data that isn't yours.
Use the site to distribute malware or illegal content.
Impersonate someone else when commenting or subscribing.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is." The content reflects personal opinion at the time of writing and may be wrong, outdated, or revised without notice. Nothing here constitutes legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the site owner is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. If local law makes that limitation unenforceable, liability is capped at the greater of $0 and the amount you paid to use the site (i.e. nothing).

Third-party services

This site integrates with Listmonk (newsletter), Comentario (comments), Umami (analytics), and Algolia (search). Those services have their own terms; see the Privacy Policy for details on what's shared with whom.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site owner resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Changes

These terms may change. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept them.
